Agriculture Eradicates Poverty – Buganda Prime Minister

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged the people of Buganda to get involved in agriculture so that they can get out of poverty.

The Minister of Cabinet, Parliament and Special Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Noah Kiyimba unveiling more than R17 million from Buweekula and Kyaddondo provinces at the Bulange Palace in Mmengo.

The Chief Executive said poverty is a lion and people should do everything possible to carry out the King’s call for rice cultivation and adopt cooperatives to support them because those that are united will eradicate poverty, stressing that togetherness bites the flesh.

The Katikkiro also urged parents to keep their children in schools as this is the wealth they can give them to avoid a lazy generation in the future. He also condemned the excessive pollution in cities nowadays and reminded people of the spirit of cleanliness that used to be done in the past in roads, wells, and asked them to fight for themselves and not wait for the government to help them.

On behalf of the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, Minister of Information, said the wall is the way for the Kingdom to convey the message of development to the people of the Kingdom including encouraging them to educate their children, get involved in farming and others.

The husband of the King of Buweekula, Luweekula Hon. Ssempijja Andrew Mukasa thanked the King for providing his district with water, a contractor, a farm shop at reasonable prices.

The districts representing the Embuga have come from; Buweekula; Chief Butoloogo, Chief Madudu, Chief Musaale Kiyuuni and Chief Kasambya and Chief Lufuka from Kyaddondo.
