Hon. Noah Kiyimba urged the people of the Kabaka to use their new ones to generate income especially by growing vegetables and livestock
The Minister said this while visiting the livelihood craftsmen in Lubaga division.
Among the visitors was the owner of a poultry farm in Nakuwadde, whose efforts are focused on breeding Enganda rather than white chickens. Dr. A.S. Dianah Kitonsa, the owner of the restaurant, said they have been able to create jobs and many have increased their income.
Among others they visited was Dr Nakanyike Annet in Namungoona Kigobe, who raises chickens in shallow areas and they have helped her to earn a living and take care of her children. Nakato Gloria of Nakulabye, on the other hand, uses her yard, and grows sukumawiiki, raises sheep, chickens, and grows potatoes.
Mrs. Annet Kayongo, a widow in Nakulabye, decided to use the yard for fish farming, vegetable growing, and chicken farming. He showed the Minister how he raises fish using small pipes to hang water in which the fish are kept.
Minister Kiyimba also visited Kabuusu in Lubaga where youths are doing various handicrafts including; sewing shoes, bags, clothes, and the like. The position is taken by Mr. Gideon Byamureba, said he decided to set up the center with the aim of training youths to be self-employed to increase the amount of Ugandan products in the international markets.
In his message to the people, the Minister of Parliament, Cabinet and Office of the Chief Minister, Oweek Noah Kiyimba, urged the people of the Kabaka to re-breed local chickens as they are easy to raise and medicinal because they eat common grass, bacteria, and molds.
He is pleased to see that young people are the most involved in this work by implementing the Kabaka’s message not to be given bunyebwa because they can work for themselves and each other. He said the current effort is to fight for self-reliance by doing things that take them forward, and urged the youth to adopt handicrafts as these will lift them out of poverty.
