Education and Sports Minister Janet Museveni has praised the development brought about by the invention of modern technology, but called for action to prevent it from becoming a problem.
He was speaking at the opening of an education conference organized by the Ministry of Higher Education at Hotel Tringle in Mbarara. Ms. Museveni said technology has helped to promote research which has increased development. However, it is better not to deprive people of their jobs and abuse them.
The conference was organized under the theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which uses technology and performs various tasks involving reasoning, detecting the unseen and learning from the past.
Victoria University President Prof Lowrance Muganga said people should not be afraid of the program as it helps to increase research.
MP James Kubeketerya (Bunya East) and chairman of the parliamentary committee on education urged universities to focus on teaching things that build the country and improve people’s lives.
